As winter begins to impress us with its beauty, we are reminded of the unique and often playful designs of snowflakes. In today's activity, why not try to re-create that beauty by creating your own snowflake ornament?!
Materials
4 Craft sticks
Markers or craft paint and paintbrushes
Craft glue or a hot glue gun
Glitter Glue (Pre-mixed, any colour: red, green, gold, silver, or blue)
Decorations, such as beads, pom-poms, sequins, etc
Ribbon
**We do not suggest using a shaker of glitter, as it could become quite messy and cause frustration if stuck on clothes, hands, etc.
Directions
For ease, pre-glue the craft sticks into a "snowflake" pattern, by placing a dab of glue on the center of one stick and overlap with a second stick to create the letter X. Repeat and glue both X's together.
Here are some options to try for designing your snowflake:
Using the markers, draw fun, abstract designs on each craft stick. Perhaps write your name or the name of family or friends. Or maybe use the paint to paint each craft stack a different colour, and let dry.
Using glue, create a design on each craft stick with beads, sequins, pom-poms, etc. in a fun and creative way. Let dry.
Using glitter glue, dab, dot, and draw with the glue on one side of the craft sticks. Let dry before adding any other decorations or if choosing to do both sides of the snowflake.
Once your snowflake is complete, use glue to secure a loop of ribbon at the tip of one of the craft sticks. Hang on your wall or your Christmas tree and enjoy its beauty!
