Today is Nunavut Day! Our youngest Province or territory, Nunavut officially separated from the Northwest Territories to become its own Canadian territory on April 1st, 1999. However, Nunavut Day celebrates the passage of the Nunavut Land Claims Act in the Canadian Parliament on July 9, 1993, a more meaningful day for the Nunavut peoples.
